Billboard Launches First Global 200 Chart Award

Global 200 Chart Award is Born!

In collaboration with MRC Data/Nielsen Music, Billboard has launched the Billboard Global Excel. U.S and Billboard 200 all in order to better represent hits all around the globe.

The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. is said to focus entirely on territories outside of the U.S. Whereas the Billboard Global 200 is a combination of songs all around the globe plus songs in the U.S. Both charts will rank songs based on their sales and streaming activity amassed from over 200 territories around the globe.

The two charts will be calculated based on streams on both ad-supported tiers of video and audio music services and also subscriptions. Additionally, download sales from full-service digital music retailers from around the globe will be added to the calculation.

Info president Deanna Brown and MRC Data and MRC Media announced, “As the steward of the definitive industry charts, we’re thrilled to unveil out our global charts which give the industry insights into the most powerful artist worldwide, what songs have an international impact, as well as what songs may start trending outside of the United States.”
